Physician: End The ‘War On Pubic Hair’

Family physician Emily Gibson made headlines recently for her public assertion that modern women should shy away from the practice of bikini waxing – which she referred to as the “war on pubic hair” – as the practice increases risk of various infections.

“The amount of time, energy, money and emotion both genders spend on abolishing hair from their genitals is astronomical,” said Gibson in an article on KevinMD.com. “The genital hair removal industry, including medical professionals who advertise their specialty services to those seeking the ‘clean and bare’ look, is exponentially growing.”

  1. Best quote I ever read is that a hairless woman looks like a chicken in the supermarket that’s several days past its sell-by date.

  2. By the way, I am sorry to report that the war is over, and the enemy won :( The wonderful site Guess Her Muff keeps a running tally of the various, er, muffs it features, and currently Shaved outnumbers Natural by an enormous 1,142 to 246 margin. An additional 525 are classified as Trimmed, which generally are somewhere in the middle.

  5. No one under the age of 30 believes this, but 20 years ago no one shaved.

Anyway I am with Peter on this one, it looks better with a nice triangle.

  6. Knight beat me to it. Considering how unusual it used to be, the growth may have been exponential-ish. We’ll be at over 100% any day now.

Anyway, Peter, as I’ve said before, I don’t think “Guess Her Muff” is going to be a representative sample.

  7. Guess Her Muff actually is representative because only ordinary women are eligible. Porn stars, strippers and hookers aren’t allowed.

  8. 7.Guess Her Muff actually is representative because only ordinary women are eligible.

Specifically, ordinary women who are willing to post pictures of their genitalia on the Internet. Which is probably a nonrepresentative sample.
